in the Auto body and Paint industry in the last 22 years of experience.....
Basically in this industry you have at the top of the food chain
The Big quality Collision Stores, These operation handle 99% insurance work,
They Charge insurance companies unGodly amounts of money for even the most
simple work, Mind you they do it right, they replace all the parts
that the need to and get the car back to better than original in many cases...
The average person trying to go here and pay privately could not afford these
guys... You'll pay 10k for a color change,
you'll pay 7K for a front bumper swap with one fender and sub bumper perhaps a
core support and radiator... Just not logical...

Next you have the shops that Cater to the NON insurance jobs, These shops are
about 75% in terms of cost compared to the first group, Be prepared to spend
thousands of dollars, you're going to get good work, not taking that away
but you will pay dearly for such work. The owners of these outfits are
millionaires, plain and simple...

Next stop on the food chain, Head South, National City/Chula Vista....These are
the Wanna be Shops, the Hacks, they TRY to charge alot but usually these shops
are managed by people who never really learned the golden rule...
They over promise and under deliver and in many many many cases do very bad
work...and charge almost as much as the guys upstairs.

I guess this is the appropriate place for Maaco/Earl Shieb...OMG.. These guys
offer the world worst paint quality in the world, dings are extra, masking tape
extra.. this is just an awful awful way to go..no color selection unless you
want to pay double
and no ding repair, unless again you want to pay for it,

Next you have the Barrio Logan Cash Shops.........This is basically wild west,
unlicensed Tijuana all over again.. Expect to pay 300 bucks for a paint job
like Maaco, and get Orange peel, rough sand paper spots, dings that need more
attention
just stay away...because the trick here is "oh you wanted a
"good" job? well you didn't pay for a good job" that's gonna
cost you another 500 bucks, if you want a clear coat....Save your money.
